PROJECT YASP

The Youth Alternative Solutions Program (YASP) is a therapeutic jurisprudence program in collaboration with the San Bernardino County Juvenile Informal Traffic Division. Youth are given an opportunity to choose between a substantial fine or pay a lesser fine and attend the YASP,  which includes workshops about drug and alcohol use and visits to the trauma center and coroner's office.

The purpose of this study is to determine if the YASP is effective at reducing hospital admissions related to substance use, and incarceration.

This project is in collaboration with Loma Linda University Medical Center and Children's Hospital Trauma Support Services.

More information about YASP is available here: https://lluh.org/patients-visitors/support-groups-services/youth-alternative-solutions-program-yasp

This project is a collaboration with Dr. Sigrid Buruss  in the Department of Surgery and Trauma at Loma Linda University and is funded by the Grants for Research & School Partnerships.
